Headpiece of the Staff of Ra

The main body is a standard grey resin painted in Alclad II’s Pale Gold lacquer. I printed the gem in two pieces in a transparent red resin. A two-part epoxy secured the halves together and added a clear mass in-between for a strong bond and–as a bonus–improved light refraction.

I weathered the piece with water-mixable oil paints. I relied heavily on brown to give the surface a warmer tone and black to highlight the crevices and details.
