Deckard’s Blaster

I printed the parts in ABS (Original Prusa MK3S) and resin (Original Prusa SL1) and then assembled the blaster with real hardware–e.g., socket cap screws, brass rods, springs, brass threaded inserts, and LEDs.
I created silicone molds of the grips, triggers, the side attachments, and the grip base and butt. I cast the smaller pieces in pewter and the other parts in Smooth-On SmoothCast 326, a transparent urethane resin. I used aluminum powder to cold cast the parts of the grip that were meant to be metal.
A variety of Alclad II lacquers cover the rest of the piece. I painted each set of pieces–e.g., the slide and lever assembly or the Bulldog frame–a slightly different color. There is Magnesium, Dark Aluminum, Duralumin, Gunmetal, Steel, and a matte black. This created a lovely mix of darker colors for contrast and comes close to matching the colors of the real prop.
Prior to painting, I used a Glowforge laser to engrave the proof marks into the slide. I weathered the blaster with water-mixable oil paints and steel wool. For the pewter parts, I used JAX Pewter Black to age them and highlight details and scratches.
